A Tribute to the Exceptional Martyrdom of the Sahibzadas Part 2

Now in the next leg of this Journey-of-Martyrdom, we are taking you to Gurudwara Shahi Tibba, where the Mughal forces, numbering hundreds and thousands, had fired with guns on Guru Gobind Singh ji and his contingents, which included his family members.

It is worth narrating that when Guru Gobind Singh ji, with his family and his contingents of his followers, after having left Ananpur Sahib and Anandgarh Fort, covered a distance of 15 kilometers, and then they were attacked by the Mughal cannon fire. This place marks the site of First major battle with the Mughals, and also marks the place where the first Sikh fighters laid their lives in their just fight against cruelty, atrocity and injustice.

It is worth remembering that the Mughals had promised and assured the Tenth Guru that if he agreed to leave Anandpur Sahib and vacate the Anandgarh Fort, then he, his family, and his followers would be given a safe and secure passage and no harm would be come to them in any way. But totally disregarding their assurance and going back on all the promises made to the Guru, no sooner had they left Anandpur, the Mughal forces surrounded the Guru’s contingents and opened canon fire on them. When Guru Gobind Singh reached Nirmohgarh, then the Mughal forces stationed at Shahi Tibba directed their fire towards Guruji and his family. But the Guru’s and his Sikh soldiers’ arrows successfully silenced these guns in no time. This was followed by a hotly contested battle, and hundreds of Sikhs laid their lives in that battle. After this, Guru Gobind Singh, accompanied by his family, and remaining followers and soldiers, marched on.

We talked to a localite about the entire course of these events and he interpreted the history of the place in the following manner.
