New Delhi: After a long wait, the Congress party has finally prepared a truce for the ongoing crisis within its Punjab unit. Congress party has made it clear that it will go into the polls next year under the leadership of Captain Amarinder Singh.

While no official word has come from the party regarding its disgruntled leader Navjot Singh Sidhu, sources have informed that he is likely to get the post of Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) Chief.

Congress is working on a formula in which two working Presidents will also be appointed along with the PCC Chief. To make a balance among the caste and communities, these appointments will be done with one Hindu and one Dalit leader. The names of Vijay Inder Singla and Choudhary Santokh Singh are going rounds for these posts.

Apart from these, Congress senior leader and MP Pratap Singh Bajwa is expected to get the post of Manifesto committee chief. It may be noted that Bajwa has been a strong critic of Capt Amarinder Singh's leadership, and has made controversial statements against the Punjab CM on various issues.

It was also being said that Captain Amarinder Singh and former Punjab Congress Chief Sunil Jakhar have got upset from the party high command over the reports of appointment of Sidhu as PCC Chief. According to the sources, Capt even called Congress President Sonia Gandhi showing his resentment over the matter.

However, the office of Captain Amrinder Singh denied news of him leaving the party in view of Sidhu getting appointed as PCC Chief. Raveen Thukral, media advisor of Captain Amarinder Singh clarified the matter on Twitter, "Media reports of CM Capt Amarinder Singh resigning are humbug. He has neither quit nor offered to do so. He will lead Punjab Congress to victory in 2022 Assembly Polls as he did in 2017."

Amid these speculations, Punjab Congress incharge Harish Rawat also held a meeting with Congress President Sonia Gandhi at her residence. Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi were also present in the meeting. However, Rawat later informed the media that the meeting was regarding Uttrakhand and no discussions on Punjab took place.

When asked about his interview to a private news channel, Rawat replied, "Who said that (on Sidhu's appointment as PCC Chief)? I was being asked about a particular question to which I replied that a similar kind of formula will be prepared. There are still some logistic ends which need to get together."

ETV Bharat spoke to a senior leader of Punjab Congress regarding this matter, who said, "If this happens, I don't know how a coordination will be made between Capt and Sidhu."

Replying to a question of whether this move will give a wrong message to the party, as Sidhu has been continuously attacking his own CM, the Punjab Congress leader said, "That is something which the party high command should think about. Sidhu was only criticizing the CM on Twitter. Some leaders even sought an ED probe on their own CM. So maybe these are the things which have been rewarded for their indiscipline."

In this ongoing crisis in Punjab Congress, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has played a vital role for Sidhu getting a key role in the organization. Sidhu had demanded the post of PCC Chief during his meeting with the three-member committee, which was constituted to resolve the feud in Punjab Congress. He later had a meeting with both Priyanka and Rahul Gandhi to press upon his demands. However, the final announcement on the revamp in Punjab Congress is still awaited.
