Chandigarh: Punjab based non-profitable, non-political NGO Atam Pargas Social Welfare Council (APSWC) has taken the initiative of helping the families of those farmers who lost their lives in the ongoing protests both financially and otherwise.
For this, a website was launched by five prominent academicians including current and former vice-chancellors of universities at the Punjab Agricultural University on Monday.
The bereaved families can register themselves on this portal after which the APSWC members would reach out to them with all the necessary help the family requires.
Dr Varinderpal Singh, principal soil scientist, PAU, and chairman APSWC said the families who register themselves would be visited by the Council members who will help them in every required aspect.
He also added that if any social worker or teacher wants to help the families of the martyred farmers, then they can also register on the website and serve them.

"With the support of more than 300 units of the Atam Pargas Social Welfare Council (APSWC) set up across the country efforts will be started immediately to look after the families of all the farmers who lost their lives. This will not only help the families of the farmers but will also help us understand their needs," Singh said.
Dr Varinder Pal Singh had in December refused to accept the Golden Jubilee Award as well as Gold Medal for the Best Work done in Field of Plant Nutrition on stage to express his solidarity with the farmers' protest.
