Nuapada (Odisha): A pregnant woman was carried on a stretcher for nearly 4 km as the ambulance could not reach the village due to bad road condition in Kapargarh area of Nuapada district on Friday.
As per reports, Jugni Majhi of the village complained of labour pain early morning today following which the family members contacted 102 for an ambulance.
However, the ambulance couldn’t reach the patient owing to lack of motorable roads to her village and had to wait beyond Kirikiti village.
With no option left, the family members with the help of some villagers placed Jugni on a stretcher and walked for nearly 4 km to the ambulance.
Later the woman was rushed to the Khadiala hospital. The condition of the woman and the newborn are stated to be stable after treatment at the hospital.
