Odisha's first drive-in COVID-19 vaccination begins today

The BMC said those who have taken the first jab at private hospitals or government facilities can drive-in for the second dose of the vaccine at Esplanade centre. They are advised to book their slots for the immunization at the centre.

Bhubaneswar: Taking a leaf out of the Mumbai model, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Saturday launched its first drive-in COVID-19 vaccination centre in the capital for all those aged above 45 years.

As per the information, the vaccination centre is located at the parking lot of Esplanade shopping mall near Rasulgarh Square in Bhubaneshwar.

The BMC said those who have taken the first jab at private hospitals or government facilities can drive-in for the second dose of the vaccine at Esplanade centre. They are advised to book their slots for the immunization at the centre.

Within a span of 3 hours, more than 200 beneficiaries were successfully vaccinated, said a BMC official.

Meanwhile, the Indian Navy through its ab-initio training establishment at INS Chilka and under the aegis of Naval Officer-in-Charge (Odisha) assisted the State administration in close coordination with Khurda district Collector SK Mohanty in setting up a 150 bed COVID care centre for the patients of the district.
