Body of the deceased Chandramani Bhoi (62) was found in a canal after he drowned in it. When the information reached the police, they recovered the body and handed it over to his wife after the post-mortem.

When the locals took the body to the crematorium nobody came forward to perform the last rites. As the couple have no children or relatives, Parvati, wife of Chandramani Bhoi, took the initiative and performed the rituals.
