Bhubaneswar:Odisha MLA Prakash Chandra Behera on Saturday quit the Congress party and has sent his resignation letter to party President Rahul Gandhi.

He represents Cuttack's Salepur constituency.

Behera, who has been a Congress member for the past 20 years, said he decided to quit as he was ignored by the state's party leadership.

"After being removed as Cuttack District Congress Committee (DCC) President, I have been humiliated by the party leadership time and again. In spite of my appeal to the Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) President, my grievance was not duly considered," said Behera.

He said he will decide the next course of action in the coming days.
