Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Saturday joined the millions of Odias across the globe to recite 'Bande Utkal Janani'to show solidarity and respect for the COVID-19 warriors.
People from all walks of life and ages were seen reciting the 'Bande Utkal Janani' at different places as per their conveniences following the norms of social distancing, sources said.
Patnaik had earlier on Thursday urged the people to recite the popular state song on May 30 at 5:30 pm as a mark of respect to the COVID-19 warriors for their selfless service and strong dedication in the fight against Covid-19 pandemic.
Responding to the Chief Minister’s appeal, Odias across the globe sang Bande Utkal Janani at 5.30 PM to show their solidarity with the COVID-19 warriors.
"When Odisha started its war against COVID-19, ensuring the safety of 4.5 crore people of the state was my sole priority. Be it any policy or action we initiated at the time, well being of my dear citizens was the only concern," Patnaik said in a video message.
The leaders from various political parties, celebrities from sports and film joined to recite the state anthem to honor the frontline warriors, sources added.
