Malkangiri (Odisha): A Maoist camp was busted by the personnel of Odisha Police, Andhra Pradesh Police and BSF in the forest area at the Swabhiman Anchal under Chitrakonda block in Malkangiri district, informed officials on Wednesday.
Acting on reliable inputs, the security forces carried out an intensive search in the area resulting in uncovering of one of the major Maoist hideouts and dumps.
On search, the security personnel recovered a large quantity of Maoists arms, ammunitions and other articles.
According to sources, the Maoists were staying in the temporary camp for several days. It is suspected that the Maoists were planning for an attack.
It is being suspected that these arms and ammunitions belonged to the Maoists cadres of AOBSZC and were intended to be used against civilians and security forces.
Two SLRs, one .303 rifle, one IED, nine 7.62 SLR rounds, magazines and other documents were seized from the camp, sources said.
While the Ultras fled the spot, the security personnel has intensified the combing operation in the border areas.
