Lucknow: A major fire broke out in a popular hotel in Lucknow's Hazratganj this afternoon. Properties worth lakhs of rupees were destroyed in the mishap in the Carlton Hotel.
No casualties were reported in the incident.
According to sources, the fire broke out the ground floor lawn of the hotel and later spread to the third floor. The staff present at the showroom tried to douse the flame, but in vain and then informed the fire department about the mishap.
As many as three fire tenders were pressed into service to control the fire.
While the exact reason behind the outbreak of the fire is yet to be ascertained, a detailed investigation into the incident is underway, said sources.
Local police have initiated an investigation into the incident. It is suspected that the garbages were lying on the lawn of the hotel caught fire and it took a vicious form, sources added.
