Balasore: With the coronavirus-induced lockdown forcing everyone to stay indoors, students have been using this time to innovate and create new products and devices using social media platforms unlocked their hidden potential.

Among them is Odisha's Aman Khan who has created a private place security alarm after learning from YouTube tutorials. The alarm goes off in case of break-ins and the house owner gets a call immediately regarding the same.

A student of Industrial training institute (ITI), Khaparda, Aman has created a name for himself by creating this security system to keep a watch on the house while the inmates are not there.

Aman says he bought the materials needed to build the system online as well as from the local market and started assembling them. After struggling for several months and experiencing failures many times, he finally succeeded in making the security alarm.

"The alarm fitted with a sim, lithium battery, censor and a kit is fixed to the door of the house. If someone tries to enter the house while nobody is inside then the sensor attached to the alarm identifies him. Within a short time, the house owner will receive a call in his mobile number from the sim attached to the device. This would indicate to the house owner that someone is standing in front of his house," Aman explained.

Although happy with his invention, Aman says he will try to make the device smaller.

He also says that the device can be fitted with a speaker and a microphone that may be used to make calls and communicate via them. This device would come handy for everybody.

However, Aman faces the problem of finance required to develop his device. Therefore, his mother has pleaded for financial assistance from both the government as well as private organizations.
