Bhubaneswar(Odisha): An ill-fated incident took place in the state capital of Odisha as a five-year-old boy allegedly died due to heavy traffic jam on the Nalco Square here on Tuesday.
The deceased child has been identified as the son of Nirad Nayak in Kendrapada district.
According to sources, the minor boy was initially admitted to Capital Hospital where doctors referred him to SCB Medical College & Hospital in Cuttack. But his condition started to deteriorate and to provide their child with immediate treatment, the parents decided to rush him to a private hospital at Patia. However, due to heavy traffic, the ambulance couldn’t reach the hospital on time, sources said.
Vehicles did not give way to the ambulance and even traffic police were unable to make way for it.
It took the ambulance an hour and twenty minutes to reach the private hospital, where the doctor declared the boy dead.
The deceased’s family members alleged that the child couldn’t reach the hospital in time due to traffic snarl and breathed his last.
The deceased's father alleged that irresponsible traffic behaviour of people has led to the loss of his child's life, sources added.
