New Delhi: Election Committee of the Congress party on Friday decided that former Meghalaya Chief Minister Mukul Sangma will contest from Tura Lok Sabha seat whereas former Union Minister Vincent Pala will contest from Shilling.
"The meeting is over. I will contest from Tura and Vincent Pala will contest from Shilling," said Mukul Sangma after the CEC meeting of the Congress.
Mukul Sangma also stated that list of candidates from the state of Meghalaya is also final. Central Election Committee of the Congress party convened to finalise their candidate list for the North Eastern states in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
The meeting that was presided over by former Congress president Sonia Gandhi is likely to announce candidates names for other northeastern states as well.
