Amravati : The lockdown in the nation has disrupted businesses across the country in urban as well as rural areas. It has hit the poorest of the poor and homeless people in rural areas. During such testing times, the youth from Pusada village came together to collaborate with the Gram Panchayat to set a Dhanyabank and started a unique social initiative to distribute food grains and essential items to the needy people of the village.
Pusada in Amravati district with a population of five thousand is an ideal award-winning village. Donors with social awareness in the village ensure that the poor labourers, the disabled, the destitute who are helpless in Pusada so that they do not have to suffer in a difficult situation where they cannot work while confined at home. For this, the educated youth came together and created a Dhanyabank taking the Gram Panchayat into confidence.
People in the village who are doing well donate essential items like wheat, sorghum, rice, millet, pulses, oil, vegetables etc. to this grain bank as per their wish. The grains, vegetables etc. collected in this grain bank are being distributed to the needy persons while maintaining social distancing norms.
In addition to this, the youth of Pusada have formed a WhatsApp group called "Gram Panchayat Sahayata Nidhi" through which they have collected over Rs. 1 lakh from village donors and distributed money to meet the daily basic needs of the needy. As a result, the poor, the disabled and the destitute are being taken care of well. About 200 families have benefited from this grain bank since the lockdown.
Not only this, these youngsters are distributing free cloth masks and soap to the villagers so that they do not get infected with Coronavirus.
