Mumbai: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin on Thursday dialed called Supriya Sule in the aftermath of her father and NCP President announcing his resignation from the top post. Following uproar from Pawar's followers, the veteran NCP chief's nephew and senior party leader Ajit Pawar has said that the former has sought time to “think over” his decision.
According to the sources, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi dialed Supriya Sule and inquired from her over the latest developments in the NCP. It is learnt that Rahul held detailed discussion with Supriya over the matter. Besides Rahul Gandhi, Tamil Nadu CM and his Kerala counterpart Pinarayi Vijayan are also said to have called Supriya over the developments in the NCP after her father Sharad Pawar's bombshell announcement to resign as NCP president.

Significantly, Supriya Sule is seen as a strong contender for the post of NCP President once the resignation of Sharad Pawar is accepted by the party top brass. After NCP president Sharad Pawar resigned from his post at an event on Tuesday, party meetings are going on for the last two days to decide over the next course of action.
A crucial meeting of the NCP committee, which has been formed by Sharad Pawar himself is meeting on Friday to make a decision with regard to Sharad Pawar's successor. Sources said the meeting will be held at 11 am at the party office in south Mumbai. The committee members including Sharad Pawar's daughter Supriya Sule, his nephew Ajit Pawar, Praful Patel, Chhagan Bhujbal, among others, will decide over Sharad Pawar's successor.
The meeting of the committee comes amid Sharad Pawar not relenting despite repeated appeals from NCP leaders and supporters that he withdraw his decision to step down.
