Over 1,007 Maharashtra cops tested positive for COVID-19 so far

Coronavirus has infected more than 1,000 police officials in Maharashtra so far. Over 887 police personnel are undergoing treatment at various hospitals.

Mumbai: As the number of coronavirus cases in Maharashtra continues to surge, police personnel who are at the forefront of the fight have also been affected in huge numbers. So far, over 1,007 cops have tested positive for the virus.

The country is currently under complete lockdown to prevent the spread of coronavirus. However, many citizens are not taking the lockdown and its guidelines seriously. These police personnel have been on duty on the streets day and night to ensure strict enforcement of the lockdown. Out of the 1,007 policemen affected, 887 policemen are still undergoing treatment.

As many as 1,03,345 cases have been registered in the state under Section 188 during the lockdown and 662 people have been booked for violating quarantine rules.

There have been 207 incidents in which the police have been attacked for which 747 people have been arrested so far. As many as 88,623 phone calls were made to the 100, the Police Control Room for Covid-19.

Also, 55,784 vehicles have been seized in 1291 cases of illegal transport. Doctors, nurses and medical staff treating Corona were attacked at 33 places and 82 police personnel were injured.
