Mumbai teen flees home after spending Rs 10 lakh from mother's bank account to play PUBG

A 16-year-old boy from Jogeshwari, Mumbai withdrew a whooping sum of Rs 10 lakh from his mother's bank account to purchase for online game PUBG. His mother reprimanded him and then after writing a letter saying that he will never return home, he fled.

Mumbai: A 16-year-old boy ran away from home in the western suburb of Jogeshwari here after his parents reprimanded him for allegedly spending Rs 10 lakh through online transactions for playing PUBG, police said on Friday. Based on the parents' complaint, police launched an investigation and CCTV examination in Andheri (East) area spotted him.

After counselling, he was handed over to his parents, said senior police officer. Officer in Andheri MIDC police station said that the teenager's mother reprimanded him after she found out that he made the purchase. After writing a letter saying that he will never return home, he fled, police said.

As per reports, police had to register a kidnapping case as he is a minor and started tracking down the boy.

The parents said to the police that the teenager was addicted to PUBG, an online game and spent Rs 10 lakh for buying virtual currency and ID for the game.
