Nagpur (Maharashtra): With the increasing risk of the coronavirus outbreak, a 5,000-bed capacity 'Covid Care Centre' is being set up in Nagpur, which is being touted as the state's largest.
Already, 500 beds are available for use at the centre, which was set up in a record time of eight days.
The Nagpur Municipal Corporation is setting up the mega centre at the Radha Saomi Satsang premises near Yerla. The trust had come forward and made its premises available considering the grave situation amid the pandemic.
"We have already set up 500 beds and have made provision for 2,500 beds more and if need arises, it can be increased up to 5,000 beds," NMC commissioner Tukaram Mundhe said, who also visited and inspected the new medical facility.
"This arrangement has been made in case the number of patients increases suddenly," he added.
