Aurangabad: The Jayakwadi dam, which is the largest dam in Maharashtra's Marathwada region, is now 62.37 per cent full on account of rainfall in its catchment areas, an official said on Sunday.
The dam catchment areas received rainfall of 18 mm on Saturday, leading to the rise in the water level, he said, adding that there is also the inflow of water from other dams.
"Water was released the Darna dam in Nashik to Jayakwadi dam at the rate of 16,232 cusecs on Sunday. We hope the water level in Jayakwadi dam will rise further," Executive Engineer Rajendra Kale told reporters.
The current volume of water in the dam stood at 2092.32 Million Cubic Metre (MCM), the official said, adding that the total storage capacity is 102.7 thousand million cubic feet (TMC).
