Intro:New Delhi: Ahead of the much awaited visit of Chinese President Xi Jingping to India for the second informal meet with PM Modi, Beijing has taken a firm stand on India's Kashmir move siding with Pakistan.

Body:In its joint statement with Pakistan, China opposed India's unilateral move in Kashmir and called for solution of the dispute through UN charter. It even called both India and Pakistan to resolve issues through dialogue.

Dennouncing China's remark, former ambassador Vishnu Prakash who has also served in China called it unfortunate. He reiterated India's continuous stand that Kashmir is an internal matter and Beijing should desist from making such comments.

'I do hope that China reflects a bit and refrains from getting carried away by the mischievous campaign of Pakistan and comment on things which can have impact on our bilateral relationship,' said ambassador Prakash.

Conclusion:On how it might impact the upcoming visit of the Chinese President, the former envoy said, 'we do take note of the fact that China has been campaigning on behalf of Pakistan at international forums and also talking about J&K in a manner which is not consistent with facts.'

China's remark on Kashmir also received a strong opposition from the Ministry of External Affairs. In its statement it drew a clear line saying that no other countries are allowed to comment on India's internal affairs.
