Mumbai: A 63-year-old woman became the first patient in Mumbai to scumbled to the Delta Plus Covid variant after receiving both doses of covid vaccine.
The woman died of Covid on July 27 and the Genomic sequencing tests on Wednesday confirmed that she was suffering from Delta Plus variant.
According to the information revealed by the Municipal corporation, the 63-year-old housewife was found to be covid positive on July 21 and was admitted to the ICU on July 24 after she reported dry cough, loss of taste, body aches and headaches.
The patient was on oxygen support as she was suffering from interstitial lung and obstructive airway diseases. She has become Maharashtra's second Delta Plus fatality. A total of 65 cases of Delta Plus variant have been reported in the state so far, Maharashtra health department stated.
On Sunday, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray warned that a lockdown shall be imposed if the state witnesses a surge in the number of COVID-19 cases. Addressing the people of the state through social media, Thackeray said that Maharashtra has made preparations ahead of the third wave of COVID-19.
