COVID-19: Currency notes printing stopped in Nashik till April 30

Keeping in mind the safety of the employees and their families, the administration has decided to close Currency Security Press and India Security Press in Nashik till April 30. More than 3,000 workers are working in Nashik's currency note press where 40% of the country's currency notes are printed.

Nashik: The administration has decided to close Currency Security Press and India Security Press in Nashik till April 30 in view of the pandemic.

In both these presses, only personnel associated with urgent services such as fire brigade, water supply and medical services will work in shifts until the restrictions are in place. However, no currency notes will be printed.

General Secretary Jagdish Godse and Working President Dnyaneshwar Jundre of the workers' organization discussed the demand to close both the presses with the director, as a precautionary measure, as both the presses have workers from urban as well as rural areas.

More than 3,000 workers are employed in Nashik's currency note press. About 40% of India's currency notes are printed here.

Last year too, the currency printing press was closed for a few days due to the coronavirus pandemic.
