Three persons were held for robbing a doctor of cash and jewellery in Maharashtra's Yavatmal district. The trio visited the doctor's house late on June 2 on the pretext of getting a patient examined.

Yavatmal: Three persons were arrested for allegedly robbing a doctor of cash and jewellery in Maharashtra's Yavatmal district.

The three, identified as Avinash Nemade (27), Sanjay Lokhande (40) and Anil Dodke (22), had visited the house of Dr Shreeram Chakkarwar late night on June 2 on the pretext of getting a patient examined.

According to an official, when the doctor opened the door of his house, the trio, with one of them brandishing a knife, looted cash and jewellery. A case was registered with Mahagaon police station the next day. The probe was later handed over to the Yavatmal Crime Branch.

A Crime Branch team led by assistant inspector Nilesh Shelke made the arrests from Pusad on Sunday and seized a motorcycle and two mobiles of the accused.

Crime Branch chief Pradeep Siraskar said. "The cash and jewellery looted from the victim have not been recovered and efforts are on in this connection."
