Mumbai: The Maharashtra Anti Terrorism Squad has arrested another member of the banned Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) from Delhi in a 2006 case.

Ijaz Akram Shaikh and Ilias Akram Shaikh, who are brothers, were wanted in the case which was registered following a raid in Mira Road area of neighbouring Thane district thirteen years ago.

They were allegedly associated with Ethesham Siddiqui, a convict in the 2006 Mumbai train blasts case.

"Objectionable materials" including explosives had been seized during the raid.

Ijaz was arrested from Burhanpur in Madhya Pradesh on Thursday, and his questioning led to Ilias's arrest from Delhi, the ATS official informed.

Both are being brought to the metropolis for further probe, he added.

"In 2006, an ATS team had raided Ethesham Siddiqui's house in Mira Road's Naya Nagar and recovered objectionable materials. While Abdus Subhan Qureshi and Safdar Nagouri were arrested in the case, brothers Ijaz and Akram were wanted," ATS Deputy Commissioner of Police Vikram Deshmane said.

Siddiqui was the main accused in the July 11, 2006 serial train blasts in Mumbai, which killed 188 people. He was sentenced to death in the case.

A Maharashtra ATS team on Friday took custody of Ijaz Shaikh from MP police. He would be produced before a magistrate in Mumbai on December 16, Indore ATS superintendent Ramji Shrivastava told media.
