Mumbai: Film director Anurag Kashyap visits Versova police station in Mumbai on Thursday in connection with the alleged sexual assault against actor Payal Ghosh.
As reported earlier, Ghosh has filed a complaint against Kashyap at Versova Police Station. Charges against the filmmaker in include rape, wrongful restrain, confinement and outraging the modesty of a woman.
Payal officially levelled MeToo allegations against Kashyap on September 19, on her Twitter account. A day later, in an interview with a newswire, she claimed that Kashyap stripped off in front of her and tried to molest her in 2014.
Kashyap, however, has denied all sexual assault allegations levelled against him, saying the charges are baseless. Last week, he also released a statement through his lawyer Priyanka Khimani on the accusations by Ghosh. It clearly states that all the allegations levied against him are completely false and that he will pursue the matter through legal means.
On September 29, Payal met Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari seeking Y-category security. The meeting took place at Raj Bhavan in the city. Payal was accompanied by Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Ramdas Athawale.
Ever since Payal levelled the charges, Kashyap has received support from several other Bollywood colleagues including filmmakers Anubhav Sinha, Hansal Mehta, Ram Gopal Varma, and Vasan Bala. His ex-wives Aarti Bajaj and Kalki Koechlin have stood by him as have actors Taapsee Pannu, Tisca Chopra, Surveen Chawla, and Mahie Gill among others.
