Antilia bomb scare case: ED likely to interrogate Sachin Waze

The Enforcement Directorate is likely to interrogate Sachin Waze. The suspended police officer had written a letter to the NIA court claiming that another Maharashtra Minister had also asked him to illegitimately collect money for him.

Mumbai: ED is likely to interrogate suspended Mumbai police officer Sachin Waze who was arrested in connection with the Mukesh Ambani security scare case.

Earlier, in a letter to the National Investigation Agency (NIA) court, Sachin Waze claimed that a person named Darshan Ghodawat, who introduced himself as a close aide of a senior Maharashtra Minister, had asked him to collect a monthly amount of Rs 100 crore from the illegal gutkha sellers.

Waze further said that he had refused to do so and when he initiated action against illegal gutkha sellers, Ghodawat came to his office and expressed the Minister's displeasure on Waze actions.

The suspended police officer had written a letter to the NIA court claiming that another Maharashtra Minister had also asked him to illegitimately collect money for him.

The NIA had seized a high-end bike, suspected to be registered in the name of an alleged woman associate of API Sachin Waze, arrested for her alleged role in planting an explosives-laden SUV near industrialist Mukesh Ambani's residence, an official said on Monday.

Sleuths of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) brought the bike in a tempo to its office in south Mumbai on Monday, he said.

The woman was questioned by the NIA on Friday, sources said.

The probe agency had also searched a flat in Mira Road area which was in the woman's possession, they said.

The NIA suspects she accompanied Waze to a city-based hotel on February 16, before the explosives-laden SUV was found near Ambani's residence 'Antilia' here on February 25, the sources said.

The NIA had earlier seized eight high-end vehicles used by Waze. The NIA is also conducting a probe into the death of Thane businessman Mansukh Hiran, who was in possession of the SUV before it was found with explosives near Ambani's house.

Hiran was found dead in a creek in Thane on March 5.
