Mumbai: Amid speculations of political winds of change blowing through Maharashtra, Union Home Minister Amit Shah arrived in Mumbai this morning. He attended the 100th episode of the 'Mann Ki Baat' of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. After which, he is scheduled to leave for a family wedding.

After arriving in the airport, Shah directly reached ML Dahanukar college in Vile Parle where the BJP has made a grand arrangement for airing the prime minister's address. After attending the event, Shah would leave for his family wedding in Kandivli.

This is Shah's second visit to Mumbai in a month. Although Shah is in Mumbai for a day to attend a family program, his visit has sparked off a political debate over whether it would impact the ongoing political developments in the state. Speculation was rife that Ajit Pawar of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) will join the BJP along with some MLAs. Strengthening the speculation few days back, Ajit told a new channel about his aspiration of becoming the chief minister before the Maharashtra assembly elections in 2024. Also, NCP chief and Ajit's uncle Sharad Pawar had said that if some MLAs wanted to leave the party then it would be their personal choice.

Political analysts feel the suggestion of Ajit joining the BJP has brought discomfort for chief minister Eknath Shinde, who broke ranks with Uddhav Thackeray's Shiv Sena and joined the BJP in June. NCP spokesperson Clyde Castro even went on to suggest that Eknath will have to swap his role with deputy chief minister Devendra Fadnavis. Amid the political abuzz, Eknath recently left for a three-day vacation to his native village in Dare in Satara district.
