Doctors at the Veterinary Hospital in Khadkeshwar were called around 2 pm after realising that her condition was deteriorating. They checked Kareena's condition and then decided to test her for Coronavirus.
However, she was diagnosed with kidney disease.
Kareena had been ill for a few days and treatment had also begun. But, she had stopped taking food for two days and was surviving on saline.
Meanwhile, she died while undergoing treatment in the morning. Administrator Astik Kumar Pandey had visited the zoo on Tuesday to get information about the treatment of the tigress. A team from Parbhani was called to treat Kareena but she died before the squad could arrive.
Siddharth Zoo managed by the Municipal Corporation had a total of 12 tigers which is more than other zoos in the state. Due to the high number of tigers here, a pair of tigers, Shakti and Karisma, were sent to Veer Mata Jijabai Bhosale Zoo in Mumbai on February 11th. So at present, there are ten tigers left in this zoo of Aurangabad.
