Chhindwara: A woman, who tried to save her two minor children after noticing them drowning in a well, died along with her two kids at Thotamal village of Bichhua in Madhya Pradesh on Saturday.
Police said the woman, who was washing clothes in the well, was terrified to see her two kids drowning in the well and jumped to save them but failed in her attempt. Bichhua Police Station in-charge Purva Chaurasia, who narrated the incident, identified the deceased woman as Pramila Piple, a resident of Thotamal village.
She said seeing Pramila preparing to go to the well for washing clothes, her two kids, 7-year-old Chanchalesh and 5-year-old Chirag followed their mother. Before she could reach the spot, the children reached beforehand and started frolicking in the water. Seeing them drowning, Pramila jumped to rescue them but her attempt failed and all three drowned in the water.

Their bodies were fished out by police and sent for post-mortem. The villagers, who are shocked after the incident came to light, said that there is a shortage of water in the village. Water taps run dry so they are left with the option of using well water for washing clothes and other works.
Aggrieved neighbours of the deceased woman said acute water scarcity has forced her to go to the well for washing clothes and children also followed her. On Saturday, Pramila found no option but to dependent on well water for washing clothes there.
