Ratlam (Madhya Pradesh): Failure of soybean crops and debt are wreaking havoc in the lives of farmers of Madhya Pradesh. Two farmers in Ratlam district reportedly committed suicide within a span of 12 hours.
While one of the farmers Shankar Lal Ninama (62) committed suicide on Wednesday evening, the other Bhanwar Lal Choudhary (45) hanged himself on Thursday morning.
Their families said the failure of their crops and increasing pressure of debt has forced them to take this extreme step.
It is to be noted that due to excess rainfall in Ratlam district, there has been a big loss to farmers in the soybean crop.
Assistant Sub Inspector, DK Tiwari said that police did not find any suicide note.
The bodies have been sent for postmortem and a further probe is on.
