SIMI terrorists go on hunger strike seeking change of cell in Bhopal Central Jail

Previously, some SIMI terrorists tried to escape the prison and since then the security system has been increased and these accused are kept under special watch. CCTV cameras have also been installed for 24 hours surveillance.

Bhopal: Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) terrorists lodged in Madhya Pradesh Central Jail have gone on hunger strike for the last three days demanding they be moved to normal cells along with other prisoners.

All these accused have been kept in the new Anda (egg) cell made in the Central Jail for the sake of security.

Since these SIMI prisoners are jailed for various offences like murder, robbery, and treason, they are kept under special protection.

Previously, some SIMI terrorists tried to escape the prison and since then the security system has been increased and these accused are kept under special watch. CCTV cameras have also been installed for 24 hours surveillance.

Some of the SIMI members were caught misbehaving and picking fights with other inmates and prison authorities and since then, they have been shifted to the Anda cells.

All these accused who have been on hunger strike for 3 days have been tested by the doctor and also given glucose as per the need.

At present, 28 SIMI accused are lodged in the Central Jail, out of which Abu Faisal, Ansar, Shivali, Kamaruddin and Shaduli have demanded to start the canteen facility besides giving them the freedom to roam freely like the common prisoners.

There has been a demand for a watch and newspaper service too.

However, Jail Superintendent Dinesh Nargave has informed that the facilities provided to the detainees under the rules are also being given to them; Going contrary to the rules, any kind of work cannot be done in the Central Jail, according to the safety criteria.
