Gwalior: As Mahatma Gandhi quoted, ‘Sanitation is more important than Independence,’ ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’ or ‘Clean India Mission’ initiated in 2014, is a campaign that aims at cleaning up roads, infrastructures, streets, rural areas, smaller towns and cities of the country.

Udaybhan Singh, a resident of Gwalior is giving an all-out effort to turn Prime Minister Narendra Modi's ambitious vision of 'Swachh Bharat' into reality. The unsung hero of the 'Clean India Mission', on a daily basis goes out on a cleaning spree on his two-wheeler, patrolling around the city with cleaning equipment. He expressed that it saddens him when foreigners or tourists make comments on the untidiness of the city. "The dirt on roads and walls spoil the image our country," he said, adding that it makes him happy to be able to do some good.

Road cleaner Udaybhan Singh opined that every citizen has a responsibility to keep their city clean and they should act on it rather than hoping someone else would take the initiative. "People should change their mindset and join in this Swatch Bharat Mission," he added.
