Rewa (Madhya Pradesh): BJP MLA and former Madhya Pradesh minister Rajendra Shukla has written to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) seeking permission to bring back the body of a medical student, who died in China's Sinchuan, to her native village in India. The student, Sakshi Singh had died on May 5 but the exact cause of death is not known, family sources said.
Sakshi, daughter of Shailesh Kumar Singh and resident of Arun Nagar in Rewa, was pursuing MBBS from International Education School of South West Medical University in Xianglin in Longmatan of Sinchuan's Luzhou. Sakshi's sudden death has left her family members traumatised. Relatives want to bring back her body to India so that she can be cremated here and her last rites can be performed at her ancestral house in Rewa.
Anil Singh, Sakshi's uncle met the Rewa MLA with the request to bring back Sakshi's body from China. Shukla immediately wrote to the MEA seeking necessary permission so that the body can be brought back home as soon as possible.

In his letter to Union EAM S Jaishankar, Shukla said that Sakshi was resident of his constituency and pursing her higher studies at an institute in China. "She died on May 5. The family members want to bring her body to her ancestral house in Rewa for the last rites. Kindly extend your cooperation and provide the necessary administrative permission as soon as possible so that the body can be brought to India in minimum time," he wrote.
Family members said they were told that the reason behind Sakshi's death was yet to be ascertained.
