Bhopal: On the occasion of International Women's Day, the Bhopal-Bilaspur express was flagged off from here on Friday, with all women railway staff on board.
The 18235 Bhopal-Bilaspur Express left from Bhopal railway station earlier on Friday morning, with all women staff, as a mark of the Railways' tribute to woman power.
Members of the railway staff on board, including the loco pilot, GRP constable, and ticket checker, were all women.
Speaking to the media before the train was flagged off, loco pilot Nutan said, "Today I am very happy that on the occasion of International Women's Day and Railway Government gave me permission to run the special train. I will run this train from Bhopal to Bina."
The first International Women's Day was celebrated on February 28, 1909, in New York, USA. The United Nations in 1975 then declared that Women's Day would be globally celebrated on March 8.
