MP: Teenager killed over PUBG in Ujjain

One accused has been arrested for killing a 17-year-old in Nagda of Ujjain district over a dispute due to addiction to online action-adventure games like PUBG and Free Fire, said SP Satyendra Kumar.

Ujjain (Madhya Pradesh): A 17-year-old has been strangled to death in Nagda of Ujjain district over a dispute due to addiction to online action-adventure games like PUBG and Free Fire, said SP Satyendra Kumar on Sunday.

According to the Superintendent of Police, a missing complaint of Ritesh Gurjarwadia (17) has been filed in the police station on Friday evening. Later, on Saturday evening his dead body was found in the BCI colony.

"Ritesh used to get top-ups done to cross the level of online games PUBG and free fire games. For this, he had borrowed Rs 5 thousand rupees from a neighbouring youth. He was unable to pay the money. Due to this, there was a fight between the accused and Ritesh on Friday night," said SP.

"During interrogation, the accused revealed that he carried out the crime only for the top-up of Rs 5 thousand rupees for PUBG and free fire game," he added.

According to the sources, at around 8'o clock Ritesh's parents got a call from the abductors, who were demanding a ransom of 1 lakh rupees. After this, the family members lodged a complaint in the police station. While the police were investigating the matter, a call came to Ritesh's father informing the location of Ritesh's dead body.

Police have arrested one accused in the matter and further investigation is underway.
