Bhopal: A sex racket, being operated under the guise of a clinic/hospital, allegedly for the past 20 years, was busted by the police in Barkhedi area of Bhopal on Tuesday.
Acting on a tip-off, the police raided the clinic, which had been in the area for the past two decades, and nabbed 10 persons, including three high-profile people.
"The state's Director General of Police (DGP) had received a complaint that a sex racket was being operated in Barkhedi area, following which a raid was conducted," said Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime) Nischal Jhariya.
He further said that among the accused, three (kingpins) have been identified as: State President of Trinamool Congress Sachin Chauhan, Bachelor of Unani Medicine and Surgery (BUMS) Doctor Gayatri Veer Singh and a Former Sarpanch.
"We have arrested Gayatri Veer Singh (40), who claims to be doctor, three women in the 20-30 age group, and six men who were customers," he said.
According to police, the clinic did not have any legal registration nor does Dr Singh, any affiliated degree.
Many machines, imported from abroad, has also been seized by police. A case has been registered and an investigation is underway.
