Jabalpur: Despite spending crores of rupees in the health department, the death of infants are not coming under control.
A recent National Health Mission report revealed that 74 newborn deaths occurred in the Sick Newborn Care Unit (SNCU) between 1 December and 31 December 2019.
Madhya Pradesh's Jabalpur has SNCU facilities in medical and Elgin hospitals.
The hospital management is considering the different-different reason for the deaths of newborn children.
According to the information, 30 to 40% of the cases in the hospital are referred from another place in critical condition while in the medical hospital, the number of newborns in critical condition is around 50%.
It revealed that the death of newborn babies took place due to the lack of proper care and treatment. Premature delivery is also another reason for the death of newborns.
Talking about the condition of newborns, Doctor Sanjay Mishra, Lady Elgin Hospital claimed that the weight of a newborn should be 3 kg but in recent times, children ranging from 800 to 900 grams are being born. At birth, the lame, kidney, heart of these infants remain underdeveloped due to which they die, he added.
