Chhattarpur (Madhya Pradesh): A man was brutally thrashed by a mob in Madhya Pradesh's Chhattarpur on Saturday on suspicion of being a child-lifter.
It is the third mob attack in the district in past three days, police stated.
"Rakesh Khatik (37) was going to Jhansi from Bandha. He alighted from the train for a break but was beaten up by people who thought that he was a child
lifter," Harpalpur police station official B Sharma said.
Sharma said Khatik suffered minor injuries, adding that a case has been registered and efforts were on to nab those who attacked the man.
On Friday a mob thrashed a hearing and speech-impaired person in Garroli area of Naugaon on suspicion of being a child-lifter, Inspector Rakesh Sahu said.
On Thursday, a mentally-unwell woman was assaulted in Naugaon area over the same suspicion, he said. Both are undergoing treatment at nearby hospitals, Sahu added.
