Amid growing concerns over the spread of the novel coronavirus, the Rewa police arrested a man for allegedly duping COVID-19 patients and their relatives on the pretext of selling Remdesivir injections by giving a fake advertisement on the internet.

Rewa: Madhya Pradesh's Rewa police arrested a man for allegedly duping COVID-19 patients and their relatives on the pretext of selling Remdesivir, an antiviral drug used for treating serious COVID-19 patients.

According to the police, the accused identified as Abhishek Gautam, a resident of Dabhaura, saw an opportunity to make money and decided to dupe needy people by giving a fake advertisement on the internet regarding Remdesivir injection.

"A fake advertisement to provide Remadecivir injection was posted on the internet by the accused and he duped many people on the basis of this," the police said.

Speaking to the media, Dileep Dahia, Dabhaura police station in-charge, said that the accused has accepted of duping people and further investigation into the matter is underway.

Meanwhile, the 'corona curfew' imposed in Bhopal to tackle the surge in COVID-19 cases has been extended till May 3.
