Bhopal: As many as five MLAs of Madhya Pradesh Assembly have tested positive for Covid-19, just one day ahead of the winter session of the assembly.
According to reports, while three lawmakers were tested positive for Covid 19 on Saturday, two more tested positive on Sunday.
Meanwhile, as many as 50 employees of Madhya Pradesh Assembly have been tested positive for coronavirus.
"We have received Covid-19 test reports of various employees from Madhya Pradesh Assembly. As of Sunday evening, 50 employees including five MLAs of MP Vidhan Sabha secretariat have tested positive," a state health department official said.
"Including the Protem Speaker of Madhya Pradesh Assembly and the Principal Secretary of the Assembly, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh have been tested for Coronavirus ahead of the assembly," official added.
Malini Gaud, Sunita Patel, Yogendra Singh Baba, Lakhan Singh and Siddharth Kushwaha have been tested positive for COVID-19 till the last report came in.
Everyone connected with the assembly or MLAs is being tested for Coronavirus as a precaution ahead of the winter session, which starts on Monday.
Notably, a Covid-clear report, taken no earlier than 72 hours before the session, is mandatory for those who enter the Vidhan Sabha.
