Bhopal: In a bid to dupe people online, fraudsters have adopted a new method as they are targeting people with new tricks like -- 'nude video call' on social media platforms. Meanwhile, such kind of cybercrimes have become the talk of the town in Madhya Pradesh as people from different places have complained.
According to Bhopal cybercrime officials, these fraudsters make video calls on random numbers in which a nude woman chats with the targeted victim. The fraudsters record the victims chatting with the woman using the screen recording application and then send the video to the victims demanding money and threatening to share the video on social media.
The Bhopal cybercrime cell issued an advisory to alert people. Police have appealed to people using the internet and social media platforms to apply strict privacy options to secure their personal details and photographs.
"If a person calls from an unknown number by any means of video calling, then do not receive it. Even if you attend that call, do not show your face to them. It is important to never share personal photos or videos with strangers over phone or online," said, Ankit Jaiswal, ASP cybercrime, Bhopal.
"These calls are mostly made by cybercrime gangs operating from various states of the country and even from overseas. They demand extortion money as per the victim’s profile. The accused are very smart and they can make out the victim’s financial profile just by talking to them. Many people in Madhya Pradesh recently have fallen into the trap and lodged complaints with the state cyber cell. People should be vigilant while using social media and online platforms to avoid such kind of crimes," Jaiswal added.
