Satna (MP): While the whole country continues to be under lockdown and people are devising different ways to keep themselves busy. But there are some people who made good of the lockdown to set a new precedent of hard work and determination.
A tribal couple from Madhya Pradesh's Satna district has decided to utilise their time by digging a well during the lockdown period to beat the water crisis.
Chhotu Mawasi and his wife Rajlali Mawasi, the residents of Barha Mwan of Madhya Pradesh's Satna district, started digging up a well outside their house after the 21-day long nationwide lockdown was announced.
Speaking to ETV Bharat, Chhotu Mawasi said, "Due to Coronavirus Lockdown we couldn't go outside. So my wife and I decided to do something. Therefore, I and my wife decided to deal with the severe problem of water scarcity during these days of lockdown and we started digging a well in the backyard of our own house. It took more than 20 days to dig the well. It was not easy to dig and break the huge rocks inside the ground with our hands, but we did it."
"It is better to become self-sufficient than spreading hands in front of others, which even Prime Minister Narendra Modi has appealed to everyone. with this motivation, we have done this work and without any mechanical equipment, we hit the water at 18 feet. We have also started cultivating vegetables using the water from the well so as to sustain the family during this lockdown. We are glad we did so, as we now have a permanent remedy for our water woes," he added.
The tribal couple got overwhelmed with happiness and joy when they saw water coming out of their well.
When local BJP MP Ganesh Singh came to know about this incident, he himself visited the village and he has given instructions to widen up the well. He said that he salutes the courage of this tribal couple and also assured to make Barha Mwan village a model village.
