Mandla (Madhya Pradesh): The Uttar Pradesh police on Sunday have rescued one girl out of 12 girls of Mandla district in Madhya Pradesh, who was allegedly held hostage for many days.
The girls who hail from several remote villages in Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh, were held captive in various places as forced labourers.
Speaking to the reporters, SP, Mandla, Deepak Kumar Shukla said, "A girl from Mandla district has been found in Hathras and a local police team is trying to reach the girl's relative."
"The Mandla police is yet to have any contact with the girl's family. As the matter is related to Mandla district, a team led by women constable has been sent by the Mandla Police Administration to Hathras. The area of the village from which the girl belongs, it is being ascertained that there are no other girls missing," said SP, Shukla.
"Hathras police have not even confirmed the 12 girls being taken hostage there and it is difficult to say anything on this matter till now. At present, the police administration is keeping a close watch on the news of the girl's arrival and is constantly in touch with the police of Hathras," Shukla added.
