Barwani: Madhya Pradesh's Bharwani reported the first case under love jihad law after a woman complained against a man for physically assaulting her and forcing her to convert to Islam on the pretext of marriage.

According to reports, the man had hidden his identity and was in a relationship with the victim for four years. Throughout their relationship, he used to physically exploit her on the promise of marrying soon.

Kotwali Police Station in Incharge Rajesh Yadav said when the victim came to know of the accused's religion and she tried to break ties with him. However, he started threatening her saying he would bring out their relationship in public.

When the woman told this to her parents, they lodged a complaint with the police under 'anti-love jihad' law.

After investigation, the police have arrested Sohel and Suuny Mansoori.
