Agar Malwa (Madhya Pradesh): Bharatiya Janata Party leader Jyotiraditya Scindia on Sunday said that even when he was a member of the Congress Working Committee, he was in favour of the abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir.

Favoured abrogation of Article 370 when in Cong, says Jyotiraditya Scindia

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi abrogated article 370, something no one else could even imagine. Some people may ask why I am saying this only now. I want to inform you all that even when I was a member of the Congress Working Committee, I was in favour of the abrogation of Article 370.” Scindia said while addressing a public rally here.

Meanwhile, a fresh controversy erupted during the rally when a farmer allegedly died of a heart attack before the commencement of the rally.

Congress, while attacking to Scindia, blamed him for the demise of the farmer at the public rally.

Reacting on the opposition, Scindia took to Twitter and said, "Congress is doing cheap politics even on sensitive issues, as usual. Before my arrival, our 'Annadata' (farmer) had passed away. He was immediately rushed to a hospital. Politics is a medium of public service for me and I don't want a certificate from Congress."

pic.twitter.com/Egzb4H204L

He further asked people at the rally to give their vote to the ‘Shiv-Jyoti express’, referring to himself and the state’s Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan.

“In 1980, Motilal Vohra and my father were a duo. People used to call them the Moti-Madhav express. Today, there is another duo before you-- Shivraj Singh Chauhan and Jyotiraditya Scindia. If you believe in this duo, give your blessings to this Shiv-Jyoti express. We will work for your development and progress. This election is not about the lotus symbol or the hand symbol. This is about your faith, your honour and your self-respect. On November 3, give your vote to the Shiv-Jyoti Express,” he said.

Speaking to the media later, he said, “I am confident that Kamal Nath and Digvijay Singh, who betrayed 7.3 crore people of this state, will be taught a lesson in all the 28 seats.”

Jyotiraditya Scindia also lashed out at Congress leader Kamal Nath over his 'item' jibe on a BJP candidate in the Madhya Pradesh by-polls.

The former chief minister while addressing a campaign rally, referred to Imarti Devi, who is contesting the seat on a BJP ticket as "Yeh kya item hai."

"This is Congress's principle. First, Digvijay Singh had said something about Congress leader Meenakshi Natrajan which I don't remember, now Kamal Nath called BJP's Imarti Devi an 'item' while Ajay Singh called her 'Jalebi'. Congress never respects women," Scindia told reporters here.

The Rajya Sabha MP during his speech at the rally also urged the people of the constituency to teach the Congress leaders a lesson in the upcoming by-polls.
"Kamal Nath says Imarti Devi is an item, Ajay Singh says she's 'jalebi'. Close your doors for such people on November 3," he said.
