Khandwa: In a shocking incident, the police brutally assaulted villagers including women in Khandwa city in Madhya Pradesh.
The incident happened at Banjari village under the limits of Chhaigaonmakhan police station. The video of the assault went viral on social media.
As per reports, the police assaulted villagers as they had beaten some health workers after one of the villagers' COVID report had come positive.
The police said that they had to lathi-charge as villagers had started pelting stones on them.
Although taking cognisance of the video, Chhaigaonmakhan Superintendent of Police (SP) Vivek Singh suspended the police station in-charge Ganpat Kanel and constable Aakash in this regard.
Meanwhile, Congress has demanded that Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan should punish the cops for the brutal assault.
