Eight killed in collision between SUV and two bikes in Madhya Pradesh's Chhatarpur

A collision between an SUV and two bikes in Madhya Pradesh's Chhatarpur claimed the lives of as many as eight people including a minor on Monday. The bodies have been sent for autopsy and the identification of the deceased are underway.

Chhatarpur (Madhya Pradesh): As many as eight people were killed after an SUV crashed into two motorcycles approaching from the opposite side at Panna road here on Monday.

According to the reports, the white colour SUV- UP 93AS 4293, was heading towards Chandrapur and lost its balance near Jhakjira Tank Mandir and collided with two motorcycles coming from the opposite direction.

Police reached the incident spot and sent the bodies for autopsy.

However, the deceased are yet to be identified.

While speaking to ETV Bharat, Chandranagar Station House Officer (SHO) Mohar Singh Shikarwar said, "The incident occurred at 1 pm when the speeding SUV lost its balance and crashed into two motorcycles. As many as eight people were killed on the spot and two got minor injuries."

The injured were taken to the hospital where their condition is said to be stable.

Taking to Twitter, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan condoled the demise of eight people. "Got to know about the heartbreaking news of the untimely death of eight people in a road accident in Chhatarpur. I pray to God to give peace to the departed souls and give their family members the strength to bear this immense sorrow," Chouhan tweeted in Hindi.

"Some people have been injured in the accident, whose treatment is being properly arranged. I wish them a speedy recovery," he added.

Meanwhile, former Chief Minister Kamal Nath also expressed condolences to the kin of those who have lost their lives in the accident and said that the state government should extend immediate help to the deceased's family.

"Got to know about the sad news of the road accident occurred in Chhatarpur district. Condolences to the afflicted family. The government should provide all possible help to the affected families," Nath's tweet, roughly translated in English from Hindi, read.
