Devendra Marshkale, a Chief Municipal Officer at Madhya Pradesh's Balaghat allegedly thrashed the family members of a patient who perhaps died of co-morbidities. The family alleged CMO thrashed them when they demanded the body.

Balaghat (Madhya Pradesh): An alleged video of Launji Chief Municipal Officer, Devendra Marshkale thrashing the family members of a patient who perhaps died of co-morbidities went viral on social media platforms.

According to the reports, Marshkale, who has been facing charges of corruption, allegedly abused and thrashed the family members of a 60-year-old man who died of co-morbidities on Monday.

When asked, Vijay Kalbel, the 35-year-old man who had faced the wrath of Launji Chief Municipal Officer said that he was pleading to get the body of his uncle who had died due to prolonged illness. When it came to the notice of Marshkale, he thrashed and abused us badly, added Kalbel.

Meanwhile, Kishore Samirate, a former MLA, said that the act of the CMO was really a shame. "If the family members abused him, he would have filed a complaint with the police, instead of taking such steps".

Madhya Pradesh is currently witnessing a surge in COVID-19 cases. As per the Union health ministry, there were 92,534 active cases in the state till yesterday.
