Madhya Pradesh: After days of struggling to cope with flood, various villages of the Chambal valley are facing the threat of diseases and infections spreading in the area.
More than 100 people from the Chaukhpur village of Morena district have become victims of Cholera so far, while two of them have died.
The disease began spreading six days ago, ever since the flood water in the area receded.
The increasing number of patients of Cholera has created an environment of fear among the villagers.
They have complained that neither the Health Department nor the government has taken any step in this regard.
"They should have set up health camps in all the villages hit by floods, but they are nowhere to be seen," one of them said.
Congress leader Sanjay Fakkar, from Sabalgarh, has written a letter to Health Minister and former Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia asking them to send a special investigation team to the Chaukhpura village.
Sanjay has also demanded action from the government in this case, accusing the Health Department of negligence.
In various other areas of the Sabalgarh region, including Bateshwara, Tonpura, Narekapura, Sitapur, Budhapura and Dhanupura, people are suffering from various diseases which spread after the floodwater receded.
