Bhopal: After almost 70% turnout in 28 seats in Madhya Pradesh, by-election, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Wednesday said that there has been massive voting in the by-polls in the state and the BJP will also post a "bumper" victory ahead this year Diwali.
In an exclusive interview with ETV Bharat, Chouhan said," The people of the state are standing with the Bharatiya Janata Party. People saw the corruption that Congress did within 15 months. Congress stopped all the schemes of the BJP government. After coming to power, the BJP started all the development work. So the public will be standing with the BJP."
"People turned up in large numbers to cast votes overcoming the fear of COVID-19. This is the strength of our democracy. There has been a bumper (massive) voting, BJP's victory will also be bumper," said Chouhan.
"I thank all the voters. They voted for the BJP with enthusiasm," he added.
Speaking on former CM Kamal Nath, he said, "This is the matter of the Congress party. What do they have to do with anyone else? He believes that his people are enough. The CM said that this Diwali will be a happy one for the public."
In fact, the results of the voting on 28 seats on November 3 will decide which side of the politics of Madhya Pradesh will be fixed. However, after 69.41 percent voting in the by-election, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan is confident of his victory and believes that the people are with him. Now it will have to be seen that on the 10th, the outcome will decide whose future.
By-elections are being held for 28 vacant seats in Madhya Pradesh Assembly, the 230-member state assembly has 202 members, of which 107 are from BJP, 88 from Congress, two from BSP, one from SP, and four are independent MLAs.
In terms of this strength, the BJP needs only 9 more seats for a majority in the 230 member house, while the Congress will have to win all the 28 by-elections to regain power.
Of the 28 seats on which the by-election has taken place, 25 seats have been vacated by the resignation of Congress MLAs. Of the three seats vacated by the vacation of MLAs, two seats were earlier with Congress and one with BJP.
